Palauet de Nolla

As if it were one of the ceramic mosaics on its floors and walls, each person who took part in the restoration process of the Palauet de Nolla (Meliana, Valencia) had to coordinate and fit in to the millimetre – the work of paint restorers was not possible until the plasterer had finished restoring the ceilings, which, in turn, could not be carried out until the builder did not reinforce the slabs, a fact that further complicated the task of the mosaic maker. Logically, none of this could work without the direction of an architecture team that draws up the project and a municipal architect who carries out the administrative functions and seeks financing for the work. Furthermore, what sense would any of this make if there is no person in charge of carrying out the tasks of dissemination and cultural management of the space.

All the pieces of this intricate mosaic are gathered around SHOWROOM, a documentation project based on photography and video that aims at highlighting all the professions involved in a work of this magnitude, focusing on its recovery and evidencing their necessary complementarity. As it was the case in the building itself, which served as an exhibition space for Miguel Nolla’s ceramic products, this documentary work also aspires to function as a showcase for professionals and professions that are usually outside the public scope when it comes to communicating projects of this type.
